Read our review of the Apex Star SP800 for the answers to all your questions about this unique electric unicycle.

The Apex 1 SP800 provides some of the most fun we've ever had with an electric unicycle. The hybrid unicycle-bike design gives it an immaculate blend of performance and durability. It was a blast to ride the second we took a seat.

If you are looking for a reliable electric unicycle, then you can end your search with the Apex 1 Star SP800. At this price point, it is an excellent value that anyone looking for an e-ride should take note of.

A Fistful of Features

The first thing you'll notice about the SP800 is the seat and handle. Both are designed just like a regular bike. At a glance, this unicycle looks like a one-wheeled bicycle. This makes it way easier for newcomers to learn how to ride.

You will still need a mastery of balance to ride this unicycle for long periods. The inverted pendulum makes establishing initial balance quicker than traditional bikes. After 15 minutes, we had the basics of riding down pat.

The SP800 can reach top speeds of 22 miles per hour. You can still turn relatively easily with the convenient bike handle. You simply lean forward to speed up and lean back when you want to slow down. It is easy to learn compared to other unicycles.

The 800 W battery offers thrilling performance. You can get up to 35 miles on just a single charge. With just a few hours on the charger, your unicycle is back up to full power. It is an extremely efficient power system that helps you ride for much longer.

The seat is quite soft. It is also wide enough to support a variety of body sizes. You can comfortably ride these unicycles for hours on end without any discomfort. The large footrests help you relax during laid-back journies.

The exterior casing is made of poly-carbonate plastic. It is quite durable and can resist scrapes or blows. However, it can turn brittle if left out in the elements for too long. Make sure to give it some shelter when it starts to rain.

The total weight capacity is 265 pounds. We were able to carry a passenger with us for the entire battery range. The unicycle kept a consistent speed despite the additional cargo weighing it down.

You can easily track your battery life with the phone app. The SP800 is Bluetooth compatible which allows you to hook up both Android and iPhones. You can easily play music through this functionality as well.

If you like accessories, then you'll enjoy how many come with the SP800. Included in the box are a saddlebag, cell phone holder, flashlight, a compass, and some maintenance tools. You also get a one-year manufacturer's warranty to boot.

Plenty of Advantages

The biggest advantage of the SP800 has to be the ease of use. You can get a grasp on balance after only a few days. This is in stark contrast to other unicycles that require several days of intense training to get familiar with.

It is also one of the most comfortable rides on the market. The seat has a robust cushion, and the handles help you lose less energy when trying to steer. There is also plenty of room to fit a passenger on board.

The SP800 is excellent for both kids and adults. It is easy for beginners to gain their balance and start their first journey. As they go on longer adventures, the long battery life and the inverted pendulum support you all the way.

A Few Drawbacks

The SP800 isn't suitable for off-road use. The inverted pendulum is designed with paved roads in mind. It also has very low resistance to the elements. Getting caught in heavy rain for too long could ruin the vehicle.

While the seat is amazing during a ride, it does make this unicycle more cumbersome than most. If you need a portable vehicle, the handle and seat will pester you every time you need to use public transportation.
